My partner/lover/diplomat Addrianna and I are considering moving ourselves and I.D.E.A. to LA. Actually, we are pretty certain. It just came up as a possibility and although neither one of us "like" LA in theory, it feels so, so right--intuitively.
So...tell me about LA! I am a San Francisco Native. Born and bred in the Bay Area.

You’ll be moving to Zaadz headquarters (although we’ve got peeps in SF, Calgary & CT, too) so we’ll make sure to show ya around. :)
Tis all good. My recommendation–stay on the west side/coastal. anywhere from the southbay up to Malibu is cool.
Fun.

To quote Seneca:
“The place one’s in, though, doesn’t make any contribution to peace of mind: it’s the spirit that makes everything agreeable to oneself.”
~ Seneca from Letters from a Stoic
I live and work in Los Angeles (actually, work in downtown Los Angeles and live in Porter Ranch, a suburb of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley). I have travelled a lot to San Francisco over the last 8 years for work. Without a doubt, the cities are vastly different. SF is compact; LA is spread all over the place and is actually a mish-mash of many smaller communities. I don’t like LA in theory either, but, it is a great melting pot of many different types of people. There certainly is a very plastic feeling to Los Angeles, but if you scratch beneath the surface (or take off the wrapper), you should find something that feels right.
Brian’s recommendation is good and would certainly be the most popular. I have lived in Westwood and Brentwood and both were amazing.
Why are you moving to LA? What types of people are you looking to interact with? Are there any specific groups you are hoping to network with or do business with? Certain communities within LA may make more sense than others (especially if you are not interested in a long commute).
Best wishes,
Michael
I live in La Jolla, CA. LA is most nice as Brian said, on the west side. Santa Monica is eclectic. West Hollywood is in the middle of everything, and it's got a cool vibe to it. I hope where ever you chose that you are happy.
